Resume
Jack Pence - President After graduating from Idaho State University and working on the Alaskan Pipeline for over 3 years, Jack Pence started Pence Construction Company, Ca. Lic. #335164, in 1976 and started building custom homes in Valley Center, Poway and as far away as Mission Bay. In 1983, Jack went to work for Douglas Barnhart Inc. as his first superintendent, supervising the construction of multimillion dollar U.S. military structures and California Public Schools in Orange and San Diego County. In 1990, Jack formed his current company, Pence Building Enterprises, Inc. with the intent to build custom homes in Valley Center and in the surrounding North San Diego County area. In the beginning, Jack did his own concrete, framing and finish work but as time went on he realized that sub-contractors who specialized in such work were better and more efficient, therefore allowing him more time to take on more work and have more time for creativity. Bringing Kris Nelson, Jim McCaskey, and Evan Pence into the Company has also allowed for more growth and increased efficiency as tasks have become spread out and specialized. Pence Building continues to grow to the point that during 2004, we started 40 custom, spec and development homes. Jack Pence and Pence Building take pride in the homes it produces and enjoys the experience of working with new clients and helping them with designing creative layouts and features of their new homes. We are also proud of the sub-contractors who we have hand-picked and created a teamwork attitude of camaraderie and cooperation for many years...former clients frequently comment on the honesty, good manners and high level of care and workmanship they display. |
